Hunnert Car Pileup 2009 Wrap Up

Hunnert Car Pileup #8 went on last Saturday in what appeared to be the largest show to date.  At noon there was a long line to get in, but it did move quickly.  Shortly after, they closed the parking lot and people began parking along Rt. 47.  People were still waiting in line around 3:00 and soon talk began rumbling around the Grundy County fair grounds that people weren't being allowed in.  So perhaps the show has gotten a little too large for its own good.

In spite of this the mood inside the fair grounds was just as fun as in years past.  The array of cars and bikes were fantastic, the bands sounded great, and the people were in a great mood despite the chilly weather.

Eighth Annual Hunnert Car Pileup

This Saturday, October 10th, will mark the eighth annual Hunnert Car Pileup car and bike show.  You can forget about the prized, $100,000 cars that are brought to the shows on a trailer.  Hunnert is different.  It's greasy, dusty, and loud.  This show only accepts hot rods and custom cars from 1964 and earlier that are done in a classic look.  You won't see any seventies muscle cars or little Civics that sound like a hornets nest that you just pissed off.  But you will see rat rods and plenty of other classic looking cars that takes you back to a bygone era.

And if you're interested in hearing some great music while looking at the cars, then you won't be disappointed.  A covered pavilion will feature the sounds of Crazy Rocket Fuel, Cathouse Drifters, and Nuke Mutes.  And pre-show as well as post-show parties are held with even more music.  Check out all the band listings.
