A funeral service for the "Queen of the Blues", Koko Taylor, was held Friday on the South Side of Chicago. Hundreds of mourners attended the service. Taylor died June 3 after complications from surgery.
Koko Taylor, the daughter of a sharecropper, was originally from Tennessee. She received a contract with the defunct Chicago-based label, Chess Records, in 1962. In 1965 she recorded her hit single, "Wang Dang Doodle."
Taylor was 80.
